Products Inspection Types Explained
Being an important element of quality control, product inspection allows you to check product quality inspections on-site at different stages of the production and before the shipping stage. Inspecting your product before it leaves the manufacturer’s premises is an effective way to prevent quality issues and ultimately supply chain disruptions.
Â
Â
Tetra inspectors check your product against the specifications you have defined, including the international standards of your destination market. Through the use of inspection checklists that you can select online and tailor to your needs, your quality control process can be standardized and the main quality issues will be shared transparently with all parties involved during the inspection process.
Quality Control Services can be performed at any stage of the manufacturing process:
Â
1. Initial production control
The initial production control ensures the understanding by the factory of the specifications and anticipates the potential flaws in terms of means of production, materials, deadlines, or management.
Why do you need an initial production control? Anticipate quality problems at the beginning of production? Organize the lab tests of your first finished products at this stage.

Â
What is an initial production control (IPC) during product inspection?
An initial production inspection is a product inspection performed on-site before the start of manufacture, or at the start of the process (up to 20% of finished products). It is also a preliminary inspection of all machines and materials to be used for your production; an IPC is the first step in a process to ensure the quality of your products throughout the production cycle. An IPC is an early warning system that puts your order on the right track.
Â
For all inspections, Tetra Inspection uses the internationally recognized statistical sampling standard. The inspection includes a check on the features, performance, durability, overall appearance, and dimensions of the product.
Â
2. During Production Check
During production, check to identify and resolves any problems during the production cycle.
Â
What is a during production check (DUPRO) During product inspection process?
During production check inspection is a type of product inspection done when 20 to 80% of your production is completed and packaged and ready for shipment. This inspection, which randomly selects units from your different production batches, informs you if the plant in question continues to adhere or not to the agreed specifications and deadlines at the origin of your order. This ‘DUPRO’ test keeps your production on track.
Here’s some valuable information about : production inspection
For each inspection, Inspection uses internationally recognized statistical sampling procedure standards: These global criteria allow you to check the functionality, performance, durability, overall appearance and dimensions of your ordered goods. Certificates of inspection will be issued if so stipulated in the letter of credit.
Â
3. Pre-shipment Inspection
When 80% of the production is finished, an inspector intervenes in the factory to control and test your finished products according to your specifications and the industrial standards required.
Â
What is a pre-shipment inspection (PSI or Pre-Shipment Inspection)?
When at least 80% of your production is completed, a PSI is to inspect finished products that are randomly sampled. Pre-shipment inspection is the ultimate opportunity to take corrective action before your production is shipped by the supplier, and gives you an overall view of the quality of your order. Pre-shipment inspection is an effective and competitive solution against import risks and their financial consequences.
For all inspections, Tetra Inspection uses the internationally recognized statistical sampling standard. The inspection includes a check on the features, performance, durability, overall appearance and dimensions of the product. An inspection certificate may be issued (in the case of a payment to the manufacturer by letter of credit).
Â
4. Container Loading Control
This is the final step in the inspection quality control process. Check the last details of your production in quantity and quality and check the security of the loading in the container before shipping and payment.
Â
What is a Container Load Control (CLC)?
The CLC is done once production is complete and the goods are loaded for shipment. During a container loading inspection, the inspector randomly selects cartons and verifies that each one contains the quantity of product ordered, that the quality of the products corresponds to the specifications or the sample provided and that the packaging contains the barcodes, labels, and that the material used is the correct one. The process and conditions of container loading are strictly monitored to ensure that all paid products are properly loaded to support the journey. A CLC reduces the risk of damage during shipping.
Â
5. Production monitoring
At risky orders, an inspector checks your production daily to identify and fix problems in real-time.
Â
What is production monitoring?
Monitor the plant from the beginning to the end of the production cycle. Production monitoring consists of setting up daily inspections of your production site over a period of time. An inspector controls your plant, ensures that your specifications are met, randomly selects units to inspect, and identifies and eliminates defects and their causes. You receive a report every day on the quality and progress of the production, giving you complete control over the production process.
Production monitoring is the assurance of products that meet your specifications.
Â
Why perform a product inspection?
- To ensure product quality at every stage of production
- Check the quality at the source and not pay the defective goods
